- Bring to Room Temperature: Allow your steak to sit out until it reaches room temperature, about 20 minutes before cooking. This helps ensure even cooking.
- Preheat Your Pan: Heat your pan or grill until very hot before adding the steak to achieve a good sear.
- Oil and Season: Lightly oil the steak instead of the pan and season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper to enhance flavour.
- Don't Overcrowd: Cook one or two steaks at a time. Overcrowding the pan can reduce the temperature and prevent proper searing.
- Flip Only Once: Let the steak develop a crust on one side before flipping. This usually takes about 3-4 minutes, depending on the thickness and your desired doneness.
- Let it Rest: Rest the steak for at least 5 minutes after cooking to allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat for the best flavour and tenderness.
